UNODC Releases Finalized Recommendations on AML, CTF Laws

The United Nations Tuesday released its finalized recommendations on how member states should draft legislation to combat money laundering and terrorist financing, including provisions to seize criminal assets. The U.N.'s Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) finalized the recommendations in April, working with consultants from the International Monetary Fund and the Commonwealth Secretariat. The guidance, known as the organization's "model provisions," updates 2003 recommendations and is intended to be used as a "legislative base" for members, the UNODC said.
