British Regulator Calls for Governments to Release More Data on Terrorists

Governments should provide more intelligence to banks about suspected financiers of terrorism, according to Philip Robinson, director of the U.K.'s Financial Services Authority. Financial institutions waste time and effort trying to detect terrorist financiers, often only to report information that law enforcement agencies already have, Robinson said Wednesday at an anti-money laundering conference in New York. "It is neither efficient nor effective," said Robinson, before an audience of approximately 400 securities industry compliance officers.
